Description

One of the most iconic bikes which left the famous factory in Cavenago (Milan, Italy), the Colnago Mexico was produced to celebrate the 1972 Eddy Merckx world hour record. The Colnago Mexico was slightly different from the Colnago Super - built with even thinner Columbus tubes - but shared with that glorious bike the aggressive racing geometry: short, light and very stiff.

The next step in its evolution became the Colnago Nuovo Mexico which was first released in 1982 and immediately ridden to victory by Giuseppe Saronni in the 1982 World Championships. It was built with profiled Columbus KL lightweight tubes with distinctive crimps on top and down tube.

Here we present you a very special Colnago Nuovo Mexico and let's cut to the chase it's simply stunning. Being an overwhelming heap of lavishness it's quite hard to pick something to start with. And as you can see, the leading theme here is nothing less than gold.

The whole frame has been plated with 24k gold. The result is breathtaking. And then there is the equipment. The Campagnolo Record gruppo has been also gold plated and almost no part has been left unattended. From the chainset, brakes, levers to the hubs, practically all has been covered in this precious metal.

But it doesn't end there. The parts have been also heavily pantographed, making this whole combination as opulent as it gets.
