Description

Felice Gimondi, nicknamed the phoenix" became a national idol practically in the same moment which he became professional. In his first season as a newby he filled out an open spot in his team for the Tour de France - and went on to win the race.
He also became the first rider after Anquetil who managed to win all three great stage races. And he was able to dominate a one-day-race as well.

This Photographic print shows him in preparation before the start of a race. The picture would have been taken in 1970 or maybe even 1971. If you find out which race was sponsored by Evian, you could probably know where this picture was taken.
Gimondi, holding his bike in his right hand hand, is checking his back pockets with his left. He seems halfway surprised to be photographed in this hunched position.
It is a great shot with loads of details, from the clothing to the bicycles: note how he is running the first generation Campagnolo brakes, combined with first generation Campagnolo Superleggeri pedals. Brake levers and seatpost have been drilled.
Obviously it is a cold morning in the mountains which is supposed to become a hot day. Gimondi still wears his sweater over his jersey but on his Chiorda he has mounted two bidons, in expectation of future thirsty kilometers.

The Art Print is a high quailty reprint of an original from the press service of one of Italy's most important journalistic photo-agencies, Milan's Olympia.

The Size of the photo print is A3 which is 29,7 cm x 42,0 cm.

SVB quality and attention to detail is second to none! Fantastic customer service, very accommodating and helpful. An error was made in delivery and the SVB team efficiently sorted the problem the same day. I was gifted the original item and sent a brand new item, dispatched the same day. Lovely products and very helpful staff. 5*

Just bought a second vintage classic bike from Steel Vintage. A great bike at an excellent price and they couldn't have been more helpful. Their fantastic service was every bit as good as before.
Placed the on-line order late on Saturday evening and the bike was delivered to me here in the UK the following Thursday morning.

Geeky Eroica Cool. I bought the "old-school" Italian made bike shoes. They were delivered in good condition and in a quick timely fashion. They're geeky cool, just like I hoped and they're put together very well (stitched nicely, no glues where it shouldn't be) light and fit properly!

Steel Vintage Bikes are such an excellent company to deal with. They are passionate about vintage steel bikes. They have in my opinion very fair prices and very obliging to deal with. Packaging is great and no hassle even for delivery way down here in New Zealand.

The overall service provided by Steel Vintage Bikes is always first rate. Delivery and packaging is always timely and well done. I cannot fault Steel Vintage and have been a customer for a number of years.. Plan to get to Berlin hopefully in the near future, stop in for a some Kaffee und Kirchen and a bike geek mooch around the shop.
